We’ve been thinking recently about the diversity within the local church. God is taking a group of individuals that would normally have very little in common and is refining them to be his people. As thrilling as that thought is, it’s only a tiny part of the story, for as we read in Isaiah, “And the glory of the LORD will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the LORD has spoken.” (Isaiah 40:5). God loves the whole world (John 3:16) and the Lord Jesus has commissioned us to go to all nations. At Eb we have links with a number of missionaries working to share the love of God with people who live far away from Talbot Green.
Mike and Ann Wheeler along with Mike’s daughter Amanda are missionaries in Bolivia with SIM. Mike teaches at the Bible School and Ann, who is originally from South Wales works with Mosoj Chaski Radio a Christian radio station with over a million listeners. The station is unique as it is the only one broadcasting in the Quechua language which is spoken by 6-8 million indigenous people across a number of countries in South America. They have programs to help with agriculture and health issues; the station is also trying to address the widespread illiteracy with a Quechua language literacy scheme. Above all this is the sharing of the good news, bible study and Christian music.
The video explains more of the ministry and is well worth a look if you have the time. The thing that I found moving is the singing at about two minutes in, it is very different and distinct, and it makes me think of heaven when every race, people and language will unite in one song of praise.
I long to be where the praise is never ending,
Yearn to dwell where the glory never fades,
Where countless worshipers will share one song,
And cries of worthy will honour the Lamb. (Beautiful Saviour by Stuart Townend)
