Last night’s event with Dr Emyr MacDonald was a great success. There was a really good turnout (much bigger than can be seen in the picture) as the subject is very topical. It was refreshing to hear someone involved in the field of scientific research explain that a belief in God does not fly in the face of the available evidence.
Emyr began by showing some of the discoveries of recent years in the field of Molecular Motors that are incredibly efficient show incredible sophistication. I’m not going to pretend that I understood all of the processes described, however for anyone to say that these motors are not the work of intelligence seems to me to be very strange. Here’s a link to the Nature website with some diagrams and a discription
The question that Emyr asked was whether the evidence leads to atheism or is it for some, an accepted fact regardless of the evidence. He also had some very interesting arguments in the field of purpose and morality.
Emyr concluded by looking again at some of the words of Jesus. His life, death, and resurrection cannot simply be ignored and challenge everyone to respond.
