Holiday Club is very difficult to describe if you have never attended. It caters for children of junior school age (4-11year olds). The average daily attendance is in excess 100 and there are plenty of leaders including junior leaders who themselves have come to the club in the past. Each day begins with songs, a memory verse and a story. The children are then separated into different age groups for about an hour when they play games or are involved in producing some craft; they also have a drink and a biscuit. The final half hour is spent together with Gary’s big quiz and some more singing. The theme this year was the hidden kingdom and we followed the story from the kingdom being lost at the fall, being restored in Christ and then growing throughout the world.
The club has been running for many years and this year marked Gary’s twentieth successive year. Some of the parents, who send their children along, attended themselves as children. There was a really good turnout on the Friday evening prize giving.
Every year of Holiday Club is different but I believe that this year was a particular blessing and there was a sense that for some an eternal work had begun.
