Conversation held yesterday at the Young Men’s Bible Study between myself and my son in law Mike (there may be some poetic licence but the facts are mostly true).
Mike – Phil were you ever in the City Temple Youth Choir?
Phil – (after a moments hesitation,) Yes, why do you ask?
Mike – I’ve found an LP in a shop
Phil – Really?
Mike – Yes and there’s a guy on the cover who looks like you, only much younger.
Phil – Oh
Mike – Interesting fashions in 1976
Phil – I didn’t realise that you frequented shops that sell classic albums.
Mike – I don’t, I found it in the charity shop in Pontyclun
Phil – Do they sell classic albums then?
Mike – No, it was in a pile marked ten for a pound
Phil – 10p?
Mike – Yes
Phil – Oh
They don’t make fashion like that anymore, which on balance is a very good thing. I’m also wondering how they defined youth in 1976?
See if you can spot me aged seventeen, as well as someone who speaks regularly at Eb, and someone who has attended many times and is married to a former member who also comes to speak.
