It isn’t easy to be a Christian anywhere but when we read of the suffering of fellow Christians in other parts of the world it can sometimes make our own troubles seem pathetic. Such is the case of Youcef Nadarkhani, a Pastor from Iran who is currently awaiting execution for his faith.
There is a lot of information on this case online but sadly, complete silence from the mainstream media. The internet can be an effective tool in the pursuit of justice for people like Youcef Nadarkhani. He has been imprisoned for the last two years and has been charged with apostasy which carries a death sentence. He has been offered his freedom four times on the condition that he renounces his faith; he has steadfastly refused to do so.
You can read more on Christian Solidarity Worldwide website where there are links to write to The Chief Justice of Iran and to Facebook groups etc. It is so important that we raise the profile of this case as this holds the best opportunity to save Youcef’s life. Finally and obviously, please pray for Youcef Nadarkhani, his wife Fatema Pasindedih, and their two sons, Daniel, 9, and Yoel, 7.
Paul concludes his letter to the Colossians with the words; “Remember my chains. Grace be with you.” Let us remember Youcef’s chains today.
